Carlos Núñez

Carlos Núñez

From Galicia on the Atlantic seaboard of north western Spain, over the last 15 years Carlos Nunez has established a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative performers in the Celtic Music genre. Playing the Gaita (Galician bagpipes) and various whistles, recorders and flutes, Carlos has helped expand the borders of Celtic music and his musical curiousity has taken him to explore Galicia's connections with medieval music, Scots, Breton and Irish music, flamenco, fado, Cuban and now, with his latest album, between Galicia and Brazil. Carlos has always sought to challenge and extend the boundaries of the traditional music he grew up with. In his albums he has had collaborations by The Chieftains (with whom he shared a Grammy for the 1997 album "Santiago"), Alan Stivell, Phil Cunningham, Altan, Liam O'Flynn, Donal Lunny, Sharon Shannon and Frankie Gavin and also with the likes of Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Mike Scott, Monserrat Caballé and Jordi Savall.
