Eric Fernandez comes from Martigues, and belongs to the Gypsy community. He has been nourished by the Flamenco since his childhood. At the age of 14, he entered in the Flamenco world by interpreting artists that he admired. He use to play Paco de Lucia, Villa Lobos, Fernando Sor and Jean-Sébastien Bach with his father’s guitar. He released a first album in 1985 : « Alma de noche », which he realized in family with the help of his brother and cousins. Eric then collaborated with Khaled, the Bananarama, Cheb Mami, Keziah Jones and the Gypsie King. He recorded the album « Magic Gypsie » in 2000 that he dedicated to the Mediterranean music. Eric composed his own albums in unusual conditions : in the stairwells of the building where his parents use to live. There he could find incomparable sounds, whilst his mother brought him coffee ! There he created his third opus « Verdine Tempo », the origin of the latest show.
