Peio Serbielle

Peio Serbielle

Peio SERBIELLE has been travelling for a long time. Between his home and Elsewhere. On EARTH. His earth and others’. Far from a fossil tradition, Peio SERBIELLE multiplies artistic and human encounters. Here and there…. In France, Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Canada, etc. Always straddling deep anchorage and modernity. At the age of eighteen Peio Serbielle learns the basque language « Because, he says, in this country, not knowing this language, I felt one-legged ! ». When he decided to devote to music, he chose to only sing in basque. Pure minded and passionate, he fights for this culture and this language which ‘made him’. He is imprisonned in 2004 for having protected freedom fighters. Numerous public figures, such as RENAUD, Georges MOUSTAKI or Maxime LE FORESTIER, will defend him. This period deeply and eternally marked him.  Peio shares with passion this basque culture, witness of the nature of a hilly landscaped country.
